New Years Traditions

Last year, 31 December 2009, I was in the big R and hosted a New Years Eve get together at my mom's house.  I wanted to do something different or special when the clock struck 12.  I went online and googled "News Years Eve traditions."   I wanted to see what thing people did on New Years in different countires.  I read a bunch of things that I don't really remember, but one thing I did use was that in Spain some people put 12 grapes on skewer and at the stroke of midnight if you eat all of the grapes in a minute you will have good luck for the year to come.  Or something like that!   Anyways we all had grapes at 12 last year.  This year I did it again.  It is my new tradition!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

My neighbours are twits

Well I should be more specific - I don't want to tar the whole neighbourhood! Our neighbours on the right wall side are squaky, kareoke singing twits who like to sing Alana Myles Black Velvet, How Can I get you Alone by Heart and Avril Levaine songs just to name a few -  in the early morning hours.   You can hear every prolonged, off key word.

Right now it's Umbrela and 12:13am, eventually I will have to attempt to go to sleep.  I will have to put the ear plugs in and hope for the best.  I want to punch those 2 girls in their pink polo shirt wearing, cackling faces.  What mistifies me is that there is at least one guy visitor in their livingroom that has been sitting there listening to this racket for over 2 hours.    Who befriends these home singing peoples?

Why I love the CFL

I love watching lots of sports.  During the Olympics I get sucked in and watch hours a day.   But in the last few years one sports league has risen above the rest.

The CFL (Canadian Football league) gives me joy!  I never miss watching a game.  I like that is a small league and I can follow all the teams.  I like that the pay for the players is modest and they play for a love of the game not the million you get in other major leagues.  But I think what really gives it the extra edge is that I like hearing about the Canadian and American players.  The Canadian ones because I am proud of what they have achieved and the American ones because I like to think about these young men from Louisiana and Texas and all over coming to Regina, a place they would never have been to in their entire lives if they hadn't been in football, and experiencing how life is; in Canada and in Saskatchewan.   I just like visitors. I think that is it.   I like showing people my town.  I loved taking Mark to the games.  Imagine a British person at Taylor field.  :) Soo cool!

New Years Resolutions

I didn't really think about how it was the end of a decade.  It's like we are going from the eighties to the nineties, but you know - 20 years later.   I haven't really thought of any resolutions yet, just I guess I would like to be less judgemental and more kind.

I purchased a new camera and it is great!  It works so good in low light.  Anyways hi!

Cornwall

I have a cold boo hoo

Well hello to anyone there. I would just like to say I have really been enjoying the NHL playoffs. There have been some very exciting games.

Some thoughts from me

- floor tiles, grout, I will never in my own house have tile grout. How do you bloody clean the stuff?!? grout is porous, the dirt and water just sinks right in. Ridiculous. I tried baking soda and that didn't really do the trick and now I can't get the white residue off. (thanks google)

- the lawn mower won't start. could it be water in the carborator (so google tells me) !?!?! What does one do when the lawn mover won't start. And you have no car, and the only way out of the back yard is through the house . Eeps

- I am a bit addicted to TV right now and I don't like it. However one stupid show I particularly enjoy is Total Wipeout USA. Brilliant! Watch out for those big balls.

- A big TV just begs you to watch it. If you sit in the livingroom with it off it just sits there looming over you willing you to turn it on. I definately hope to have a house where the big TV has its own room so I don't have to see it all the time. But I do like little tvs in the kitchen, most definately.

- I am thinking about getting rid of my facebook, and maybe my blog! Internet socializing sucks! What is the point of knowing everything about everyone if you haven't talked to or visited with anyone. I ask you!!?!

- Texting makes me feel nauseous and I don't like that either!

- while emptying the diskwasher on my own I thought 'I miss my sister'

- the UK federal election is tomorrow, Mark is missing the vote! (he is in Houston right now)

- and I am off to bed

Hugs

Musings on Turning Back the Clocks

First off I would like to say I am for Day Light Savings time. Having expirenced it for the last two years in London, and no major inconviences or calamities have occured, I can't see what the fuss is about from the anti people.

But I do have to say it is pretty weird leaving work on a Friday before dusk on October 22nd in and then leaving work on the Monday after at the same time in total darkness.

My only complaint is (at least in England's case) why arn't we on Daylight Savings Time all the time! Who cares about those morning hours, at that happens is the trekk into work.

New House!

This is our new residence. We are moving in 23 Oct. It is a 2 bedroom house, also with a little loft. It is in Bromley, which is in the South East of London. Bromley town centre is very close by (5/10 minute walk) which has a movie theater and a shopping mall. WOOO Hoooo. More pics to come when we actually move in.

Moving Out!

Before I came home to Regina to visit, I moved out of my room on South Park Crescent. This has been my home for 1.5 years. Hard to believe I had been there that long. Mick was there to see me off. I think he will miss me! As I was a model tennant!! :) I am staying with Mark right now and on 23 October we are moving into our own (well rented) little house! I am very excited; pictures to come.

Thanksgiving!

Mark and I had a special Roast Chicken supper last Sunday in honour of thanksgiving. Mmmm

Gymnastics!

I seized the day on Friday and after work I went to the O2 arena and bought a ticket in the nose-bled section (that was all that was left!) for the finals of the Women's All Round Gymnastics World championship finals. It was cool, I don't think I will gt to World championships that often so...
